    3. Dear Sharon and All, Has anyone happened to run across an Ellen VOORHEES who married Isaac HAGEMAN in Somerset Co. on 8 Feb 1834? I am looking for Ellen VOORHEES's parents, birth date/place, etc. I am also searching for more information about Isaac HAGEMAN's parents, Benjamin and Sarah HAGEMAN. Ellen and Isaac migrated to Fulton Co., Illinois in about 1837 with Isaac's children from his first marriage to Maria VANDERVEER, including my 2GG William Brown HAGEMAN (a nice sketch of him is now on our family website at http://www.stipak.com/hageman/williambrown/RR_TOC.HTM). According to marriage records, Sarah was a SUYDAM when she married Benjamin HAGEMAN in 1778. From "Documents Relating to the Colonial History of the State of New Jersey," Vol.22: [Page 183] "Hegeman, Benjamin, Somerset, and Sarah Suydam 1778 Nov. 2" [Page 388] "Suydam, Sarah, and Benjamin Hegeman, Somerset 1778 Nov. 2" Sarah was supposedly a widow, and is still a mystery. I have new reason to suspect that her maiden name may have been VOORHEES (or possibly even BROWN). I found the will of Isaac's father, Benjamin HAGEMAN, in the "Somerset County Historical Quarterly," Volume VI, 1917, p.305: "HEGEMAN, BENJAMIN, of Franklin twsp. Dated Jan. 19, 1802. Probat. May 26, 1804. Names wife Sarah; daus. Mary (wife of Jacob Skillman), Gertrude (wife of John Nevius), Jane (wife of Cornelius Waldron); sons Adrian, Benjamin, Peter, Simon, William and Isaac; also speaks of sons and daughters by first wife. Executors--sons Adrian, Peter and Simon. Witnesses--Peter Pumyea, Sr., Lawrence Suydam, Aaron Cowling." (A., p. 28). Benjamin's first wife, by the way, is known as "Gitty ": "Hageman, Gitty (wife of Benjamin), d. Feb. 6, 1777, aged 41 yrs." --from "Elm Ridge Cemetery Inscriptions." I believe (controversially, perhaps) that this Benjamin HEGEMAN was a son of Adriaen HEGEMAN (Hendrick, Adriaen) and Maria VAN DER VLIET. From Harlingen Church baptismal records: "Oct 15, 1730 Aaron Hagaman and Maria Vleet, Benjamin, w Henry Hagaman and Gitty Hagaman" I have some more info and many more questions about all of these people. Collaboration is warmly welcomed.
