Hi, Sharon: I agree with you about the Gen forums. In 1778, Johannes Ditmars married the daughter of my first ancestor in america, Johannes George Weidknecht. Margaret Weidknecht was Margaret Whitenack or Whiteneck when she married Johannes Ditmars 14 Sep 1778. she was born around 1738, so that would have made her 40 yo when the guy finally got her to say yes. It occurs to me that it might have been a second marriage for her?? Any way, my records show Johannes Ditmars born about 1734, both of them from Somerset Co. NJ. These may be Six-Mile Run records. If you have anyinfo on a Johannes Ditmars born around that time, I'd like to hear of his parentage - I have to confess, I haven't researched him.
