Joseph and family were early settlers in Perry Co., Ohio and its county seat of Somerset. Thinking that there might be a connection and knowing that there were early Petty members in your county, I thought I would send a query your way. I can find no link to this man's parentage. They lived in Sussex/Warren County area prior to their move to Ohio in 1808. Sons were John, Moses, Jacob, Joseph, and Aaron. Daughters were Margaret, Mary Ann, Sarah, Susannah and Elizabeth. Did he have any roots in Somerset Co.? I suspect a link with the Long Island group of Pettys because of rarer Christian names for children and grandchildren, i.e. Ralph, Lucas, Moses. .Did any of the L. I.group pass through there?
