    3. Hagstrom publishes a map of Somerset County. Their address is: Hagstrom Map Company, Inc. 46-35 54th Road Maspeth, NY 11378 Phone: (718) 784-0055 This is a large-scale map on which boundaries are clearly delineated. You will find the rivers and some other terrain features but not elevations. I paid $3.50 for my map about four years ago. --Wendy Freborg Dan Conner wrote: > Greetings, > > I'm looking for a map that details Hillsborough Township: its boundaries (especially this); the towns; place names; terrain; etc. > This could be a map of the twp itself or the twp within the county. > Could anyone tell me where I might find a copy? Could anyone tell me where I might find a copy? OR is there an online map that would "draw" this for me . . . Thank you, Dan in Nebraska

    3. Sue, Ancestry.com shows an Oscar Conklin enumerated in "Bernards Township on pg. 606" of Somerset County 1860 census...I only have some pieces of Warren Township census so can't help you any further on that one, but maybe some other lister can. Also Ancestry.com shows an Oscar Conklin served in Civil War in NJ Infantry, as 1st Sergt., and Lieutenant upon discharge... Hope these little bits may be useful to you. 2. Mary Hobein
    3. I have written to the Dutch Reformed Church of 6 Mile Run (Franklin Park) NJ concerning death or tombstone information on my Rappleyea ancestors but have received no reply. I have that there is a church cemetery about a mile away from the church. If anyone happens to be in that area researching in cemeteries, I would appreciate any information on the following people: Richard (Dirck) Rappleyea (ca. 1769- Ca. 1829) and his wife Alice (Elsje) and other relatives of this couple. I believe that Richard's parents were Jerome and Mathilda Rappleyea and his grandparents may have been Derick and Antje Rappleyea. Richard and Alice had children named Jerome, Joseph and possibly Mathilda. Cornelius and George (Joris) were also common names in this family. This cemetery is not copied into the Somerset County Historical Quarterly and I have not found it on LDS microfilms. if anyone knows where tombstone inscription or any kind of records after 1805 can be found for this church, please let me know. (I have found baptismal records 1743-1805 but nothing else.) Thanks much. 3. Several people in Somerset County ca. 1820-50 were said to have died here. Does anyone recognize this place? Members of the two famiies I am researching who died here in the early to mid 19th century were born in Washington Valley and lived in Bridgewater Twp. The name doesn't appear on the 1873 Somerset County Atlas or in the index of surnames or place names for the atlas. Nor in the indexes of the Somerset Co Historical Quarterly. I also see it mentioned frequently in "Rev. Ravaud K. Rodgers Funeral Records, 1830-1850" in the Gen Mag of NJ, Vol 64, p. 1, Jan 1989 by Dorothy Stratford. Pam Bush

My problem is that I find Allen and Hall families in the same county in both Someerset Co, NJ and in Middletown, CT and haven't yet been able to connect into either a Hall or an Allen line. If you get any info please post to list or let me know. Also posting to NJ and CT lists to see if anyone has info. I am looking for any information I can find on my Allen ancestors who were in Somerset Co. N.J. in the early 1600's. I have reason to believe, but have not found the documentation I need, that one of my earlier ancestors to come to America was one Ephriam John Allen who married about 1621 in Somerset, N.J. to a Deborah Hunt. Ephriam was believed to be the son of Anthony Allen and Hester Squire, both born and died in Dorchestshire, Eng. Ephriam and Deborah had John Ananias Allen who mar Elizabeth (?) and they were the parents of Ananias Allen born abt 1643, Somerset, N.J. This Ananias married a Mary (? & had Ananias Jr. on 6 May 1699, Somerset, who mar Hannah Hester. This Ananias died in 1757 in Orange Co., N.C. Anyone having any information on this family of Allen's and are willing to share, I would appreciate it very much. Thank You, Clata McCarver Texas --WebTV-Mail-15870-4049-- --WebTV-Mail-27485-5930--

    3. Hi, Sharon: I agree with you about the Gen forums. In 1778, Johannes Ditmars married the daughter of my first ancestor in america, Johannes George Weidknecht. Margaret Weidknecht was Margaret Whitenack or Whiteneck when she married Johannes Ditmars 14 Sep 1778. she was born around 1738, so that would have made her 40 yo when the guy finally got her to say yes. It occurs to me that it might have been a second marriage for her?? Any way, my records show Johannes Ditmars born about 1734, both of them from Somerset Co. NJ. These may be Six-Mile Run records. If you have anyinfo on a Johannes Ditmars born around that time, I'd like to hear of his parentage - I have to confess, I haven't researched him. Guess i'll just have to visit your web sites and Gen Forums! Cheers Cheryl L.
