    1. CLAMPITTs in Salem County??? ~ 1693 land transaction
    2. Merry Christmas and God's Blessings to ALL ~ Once again, I need directions... found the below land transaction which mentions CLAMPITT (township~?) in Salem County, New Jersey back in 1693. Does anyone know anything about this location? I am assuming that possibly a CLAMPITT family or families were first there. And, I cannot get my Richard E. CLAMPITT, bc: 1743, backwards outta Delaware State,... and whose family later in time connected to my NICHOLSONs from New Jersey. I also have a copy of a letter written 23rd of April 1839 by "a" Rebecca CLAMPITT, b: 1763, regarding the Rev. War pension for the widow of John NICHOLSON who died in North Carolina (son of George Nicholson and Elizabeth STOCKTON) whereby "Rebecca" stated she was a cousin to said John Nicholson, and saw him married in 1786, Somerset County, New Jersey to Catherine "Caty" STEVENSON. To me, it sounds like "Rebecca" was from New Jersey also, and I've never been able to figure out her connection or whom she may have been... now I find there was apparently, at one time, a CLAMPITT township in New Jersey. Below is what I found and the persons involved in this particular transaction are unknown to me... my interest is in Clampitt, Salem County, New Jersey back in 1693. Was it perhaps a Dutch settlement, etc.? New Jersey Documents: 1693 JUL 7 ~ Document ~ Hypolitus LeFEVOR of Hollibourne, Salem County, New Jersey, gentleman, and wife Mary to Roger CARARY of Clampitt, said County, yeoman, for 400 acres on the Southside of and along Manneton Creek, along a branch of Myhoppinyes Creek, adjoining grantee, Jonathan BEERE and William RUMSEY Thanks for any leads, Anne
