    1. Re: CLAMPITTs in Salem County??? ~ 1693 land transaction

    3. The STOCKTONS were from Princeton, NJ -- now Mercer County, NJ. Richard STOCKTON gave the land for what is now Princeton University. My 2nd GGM was Elizabeth STOCKTON (1808-1888) and while I have not confirmed her parents, her father was most likely a Samuel STOCKTON, son of Richard, who migrated to the Jefferson County, TN area where my 2nd GGF, Rev. Russell RENEAU (1807-1865) would marry his daughter, Elizabeth,. in 1829. The reason I am guessing that Elizabeth's father was Samuel STOCKTON is that she and Russell named one of their sons, Samuel Locke RENEAU and my guess is also that Elizabeth's mother was named, Mary. The reason being is Elizabeth's oldest daughter, Mary Jane RENEAU (1830-1912), was probably named for Elizabeth's mother, Mary, and for Russell's mother, Jane NORRIS. Hence, the name, Mary Jane...... Mary Jane married Robert William(s) DANIEL, Esq. (1809-1865) as his 4th wife in 1852 in Bethany, Jefferson County, GA. Mary Jane's father, Rev. RENEAU, was then a Presiding Elder in the GA Conference of the Methodist Church. John R.
