Surnames: Abott,Abbott, Barron, Edridge, Eldridge, Kille, Mathews, Morgan,Smith, Van Hyst, Worlidge Classification: Deed Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/oRB.2ACI/743 Message Board Post: Original Unrecorded Deed at Gloucester County Historical Society, Hunter Street, Woodbury, New Jersey Sal -17 Thomas Kille of Aloes (sic Alloways) Creek, Salem County, West Jersey and Rachel his wife To Samuel Smith of same place. 27 December 1714 Whereas John Edridge ( sic Eldridge?) of parish of Shadwell in the County of Middlesex, (implied but not stated, in England) Tanner and Elizabeth his wife, by their deed bearing date the 7 June 1675 conveyed to Edward Mathews late of said Parish of St. Shadwell, deceased, 500 acres of land, which by his Last Will and Testament at Salem recorded, Mathews conveyed same to Cecelia Morgan - and then she by her deed dated 13 December 1682 did convey same 500 acres to Michael Barron, yeoman of Salem County. Barron conveyed the same by deed dated 10 Dec 1684 to Renier Van Hyst and Elizabeth his wife, who then by their deed dated 13 August 1691 conveyed to John Abott (sic Abbott) the same 500 acres set out and surveyed at the head of Alloes Creek, as follows: Beginning at a tree marked with the letters MB, standing in the swamp on the Main Branch of the aforsd. Creek , in a fork of said creek. Thence due N 60 perches to a tree marked MB Thence N&E 136 perches to a tree marked 12 notches, being a white oak. Thence NE 196 perches to a white oak tree marked 12 notches. Thence SE 20 perches to a white oak marked MB. Thence SE 80 perches to a gum tree by side of a branch, marked 12 notches. Thence SSE 83 perches to a red oak marked MD. Then 90 perches ENE to a tree marked MB. Then SSE 203 perches to a tree standing along side the Main branch, marked MB. Thence down branch to first mentioned tree. Containing 500 acres as by a Certificate made by John Worlidge, deputy Sureveyor may at large appear. And Whereas the said John Abott of Aloes Creek in County of Salem, deceased, by his Last Will and Testament dated 9 March 1693/4 bequeathed to Elizabeth his wife that tract of land at the head of Aloes Creek to be wholly and solely at her own dispoing. And Elizabeth Abott by her deed dated 28 Sept 1694 conveyed to her 3 daughters, Rachel, Mary and Elizabeth Abott 275 acres of that tract, part of the 500 acres. And whereas the said Mary Abott conveyed her share by 2 and several deeds to said Elizabeth Abott, who conveyed to Thomas Kille, survivor of said Rachel Abott and to Rachel his wife, all and every of their several parts and parcels of the 275 acres. Now I, Thomas Kille and Rachel my wife do grant unto Samuel Smith all that plantation and tract of Aloes Creek, contating 275 aces, the survey of which doth appear annexed.
