    1. Re: Salem, NJ Baptist Cemetery - Caretaker info or looker up help???
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Boon, Jones, Nixon Classification: Lookup Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/oRB.2ACI/740.1 Message Board Post: Hi, I don't see a listing for the cemetery, though the First Baptist Church of Salem is listed on 130 West Broadway, Salem, NJ 08079. ( 856) 935-0531. Someone there may be able to direct you. If I may suggest some alternatives to get the information, in case that doesn't work. And also for anyone else who has been looking for Vets in Salem County from afar. If you haven't already, you might also post the query on Jones name boards at Rootsweb and Genforum, just in case someone already knows. Don't know, but there might be Veterans lists for NJ or WW2 too. Also, you might contact Bob Boon in the Veterans office at the Salem county courthouse, 92 Market St, Salem. (856) 935-7510. He keeps a card file of registered veterans and their gravesites. Of course if they didn't register, (show their discharge papers at the Salem Courthouse) they might not be on his list. Neither my grandfather Nixon who served in WW 1 or his grandfather, who served in a NY unit in the Civil War, had done so...so I did it for them, so they too will be remembered now on Veteran's day. I am not sure how it would be recorded if they died overseas, but I assume the Govt. had some sort of record keeping system in place. Another way to go would be the Salem County Historical Society. 83 Market St, Salem. (856) 935-5004.They have kept scrapbooks with obituaries for many years, although I don't know the full range of dates. I was in the Baptist cemetery last summer, but that would be a big haystack to search for a single name if you didn't know where to look. I know I didn't see every grave in the hours we were there. Perhaps the American Legion post would know where to look, if they know him and he's getting a flag? American Legion brown Moore Post no. 297 at 25 W. Pittfield St. in Pennsville is the only one I see listing for. (856) 678-6774. If all else fails, maybe someone there can help. Let us know how you make out. Good luck, Val
