He was very active in the Brooklyn Academy of Medicine. There are other Firth doctors who are also there at the same time. I'm trying to find out how they connect. Perhaps one of them is his father. Did you ever send for Horatio's death certificate? I think his parents' names may be on it --if Elizabeth knew who they were. Let me know if you have a death certificate. If not, I'll send for one.
