By Hedge Thomson, Anthony Nelson and Thomas Sinnickson, Esquires, Judges of the Inferior Court of Common Pleas of the County of Salem Notice is hereby given that on application to us by William Pitts, Esq. and John Smith trustees, who claim an undivided third part of ------- that tract of land and premises, late the property of Christopher Linmire, adjoining lands of David Wiley and others, containing 80 or 90 acres, we have nominated David Wiley, John Burden and Joseph Dalbow, Commissioners to divide the said tract of land with three equal parts of shares and unless proper objections are made to us on the first Tuesday of March next at the house of James Sherron, Innkeeper in Salem, at on o'clock PM the said David WIley, John Burden and Joseph Dalbow will then be appointed commissioners to make partition of the said lands pursuant to an act entitled "An act for the more easy partition of lands held by ..... To all whom these presents shall or may come, Greetings: Whereas application was made to us the undersigned Judges of the Inferior Court of Common pleas of the County of Salem by William Pitts Esq.. and John Smith trustees & etc. who claim an undivided third part of all that tract of Land and premises late the property of Christopher Linmire, deceased, adjoining lands of David Wiley and others, containing eighty or ninety acres being the same more or less, And we being satisfied that the foregoing notice has been duly published agreeably to the act there in mentioned and all the parties therein em----? having appointed before us at the time and place in the foregoing notice specified and mentioned and all consenting and agreeing that Samuel Linch Esq., Hudson Springer and Aaron Wright be appointed Commissioners to divide the said lands in the room of David Wiley, John Burden and Joseph Dolbow the persons nominated in said notice on account of objections having been made, now therefore we the said Judges do hereby appoint the said Samuel Linch Esq, Hudson Springer and Aaron Wright Commissioners to divide the said tract of land mentioned in said notice into three equal parts or shares, viz; one third part thereof in value to Mathias Kiger & wife as the part of share of the said Kiger claims by right of his said wife as daughter and heir of Christopher Linmire, dec'd. One third part thereof also in value to Lawrence Hoffman and wife as the part of share the said Hoffman claims by right of his said wife as daughter & heir of the aforesaid Christopher Linmire, deceased. And the other third part thereof in value to be subdivided into two equal parts of shares, viz One half of said third part or share to William Pitts, trustee of and to Sarah Curriden and the other moiety or half part of the last mentioned third part to John Smith trustee of and to John Smith, Jr, his son which said third part of the whole to be divided the said Pitts and Smith as trustees as aforesaid hold by from and under George Linmire deceased for and also heir of the said Christopher Linmire, deceased. etc etc. signed and sealed Hedge Thompson Anthony Nelson Thos. Sinnickson There are two more pages, describing how lots were divided then names pulled out of a hat by another party (Wm..Hillman) to decide who got which portion. Mathias Kiger and wife got lot #1, Laurence Hoffman and wife got lot #2 and the trustees of heirs of George Linmire dec'd got the third which was again divided between their trustees Pits or Petts (looks like Pettz in another place) and Smith. So, ok, know that Christopher Linmire had a daughter with his wife Rebecca Mink, Rebeckah who m. Mathias Kiger Sr. Her sister Elizabeth, as is now obvious, m. Laurence Hoffman and so gets a third. George was their brother, and I have his as well as their birth dates from the Moravian Church records, but nothing that explains who/how we get probable Curriden and Smith grandchildren via George. Right now assume he had girls, or at least a girl that may have married 2x? BTW, for those of you still with me - this Linmire line is how I finally get related to Barb McCormick - via a Longacre grandmom further back. Damn the luck. I'd avoided being blood kin to that crew for over 6 years we've been doing our Dead Tours. I must be slipping in my old age. ha. Intersted in any information on George Linmire and how his inheritance passed down to these minors who split a share. Val

    3. Hello: I saw the surname SINNICKSON and decided to see what you might know about a John Sinnickson who is buried in Salem, NJ in the same area as Ann HOPKINS. I think John was married to Ann's niece. Here is my connection. Ann Hopkins was my great great great grandma. She spent some of her life in Demerara. But, her dad was Robert Tuckniss who was a hatter on Market Street Philadelphia during the Revolution and I believed is the same one who signed Continental currency. The Tuckniss family were Quakers from Burlington, NJ. I can't figure out why Ann is not buried next to her husband William unless he died at sea or down in Demerara or at war. No idea. Anything you know about the Sinnicksons I appreciate. I think Ann's sister, Lydia Tuckniss married Ebenezer Howell who was a physician in Salem and their child married John Sinnickson. Lydia married another physician later-- John Rowen. Their child married Gideon Scull of Salem. Thanks. Erika Hoffman ( My husband's ancestral family of Hoffmans came from PA.) -----Original Message----- From: njsalem-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:njsalem-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of vinca1@mindspring.com Sent: Sunday, November 26, 2006 10:38 AM To: NJSALEM-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [NJSALEM] Division of the Real Estate of Christopher Linmire 1824 This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.
