My great-great grandfather was born in Salem County in 1831 and served in company K of the 24th New Jersey Volunteers. Adam and his wife, Harriet S., had the following children: John D. Jess [b. 1857]; Samuel Jess [b.1858]; Mary Jess [b. abt. 1862?]; Adam Jess [1867-1931]; Louisa Jess [1870-1927]; George Jess [b. abt. 1864?]; Levi Jess [1874-1927]; and Jenny or Virginia Jess [b. 1878, died ???]. Jenny or Virginia is my maternal great-grandmother. ADAM JESS is the brother of DAVID JESS. Their line, I know, extends to Zachariah Jess . . .
