    3. John Pierpont Morgan was not on the Titanic when it sank and in fact died on March 31, 1913 in Rome, Italy ... according to Wikipedia. He was not on a list of passengers for the Titanic when it sank. Pierpont is his mother's maiden name and the name that he preferred to use. I found this info by doing a search of his name and a search of the names of the passengers on the Titanic. Joe

    3. Hi Joe, Keep meaning to write you. I am so sorry. On Pierpont, was there a tie in to the DuPont's? Just curious. 2. Cyndi made me curious about the John Jacob Astors on the Titanic, and, as someone said, we've sidelined, but it's interesting! (BUT FIRST: I deleted a lengthy article on this, thinking it was an earlier version. So, if a guru is reading who thinks there may be past clipboard pastes, or some other form of backup in my computer from earlier today, please phone 302-492-1225 and I'll call right back on my own dime.) Now, (assuming my masterpiece is unretrievable), I hate to write something twice, but will summarize. I own a 1966 book on the Astors that details their Titanic tragedy, as part of the multigenerational story of the family in America. John Jacob Astor IV had finally divorced Ava, his cold wife, then at age 47 married the 18-year-old Madeleine. Public reaction was so negative that the couple left for a multi-month tour of Egypt and England. Then they booked onto the Titanic to get back to the States, since Madeleine was expecting. The author does not give their wedding date, nor baby's birth date, but generally gives the impression there was sufficient space in between. Oddly, though, the baby got only a $3 million trust fund through Dad's will, while $67 million went to the 19-year-old son. ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program.

    3. I found these links. Very interesting and there are some pics of The Astors. John Jacob Astor IV married Miss Madeleine Talmage Force at 9:55 am on 10 September 1911. http://www.encyclopedia-titanica.org/item/1771/ The baby boy was, of course, John Jacob Astor V. He was born on 14 August 1912. http://www.encyclopedia-titanica.org/item/3233/ If you're really interest in Titanic, this is a really neat site with lots of great timelines and pictures. :) * Cyndi Young-Brown * -----Original Message----- From: njsalem-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:njsalem-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of DelawareDolores@delaware.net Sent: Monday, January 29, 2007 4:10 PM To: njsalem@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NJSALEM] Rescued photos/Pierpont Cyndi made me curious about the John Jacob Astors on the Titanic, and, as someone said, we've sidelined, but it's interesting!
