    3. That's John Jacob Astor IV who got his young wife, Madeleine Talmadge Force, on a lifeboat. :) Though pregnant, they were going for their honeymoon. I'm too much of a Titanic buff. :) Cyndi Young-Brown -----Original Message----- From: njsalem-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:njsalem-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Terri Sent: Sunday, January 28, 2007 10:04 AM To: njsalem@rootsweb.com Subject: [NJSALEM] rescued photos/Pierpont I think Andrea got it right with JP Morgan. Robin and Mill probably right also -- all those "filth rich" folks hung out together. :)) Now, wasn't JP Morgan the one who perished on the Titanic after he secured his young, pregnant wife on a lifeboat. Or am I getting my history mixed up?? 3. Wtg Cindi The funny thing is I'm a Morgan decendant and also a big JP Morgan buff. He did however own a large portion of the company that owned the ship. He also recovered all his art work that was going to be shipped the USA. He pulled it off the ship when it was found that there were a lot of con men on the ship ready to get him cornered on the titanic and badger him to invest with them. That is the main reason he didn't go and that is what saved him. He was too busy setting up his latest mistress in France with a new apartment and so the time was not good to leave.
