Proved March 16, 1747. Executors: father in law John Burroughs of Trenton and brother in law Thomas Whitson of Suffolk Co., NY. No mention in the abstracted will of a wife. Anyone know who his wife was? If she was a daughter of John Burroughs of Trenton, who was she? Executor: son in law John Burroughs. >From the above will, it appears that a John Burroughs married Lydia Baker and they had a daughter Hannah by 1760. I descend from John Burroughs of Trenton -- the John Burroughs who wrote a will in 1768 which named 9 children and 1 grandson. In his will, this John Burroughs of Trenton refers to a son John, a daughter MARY BAKER and a daughter Elizabeth ROSE (among others). There is no mention of Abbott grandchildren or a deceased daughter married to an Abbott. Can anyone identify the John Burroughs mentioned in the 1746 Abbott will and the 1758 and 1760 Baker wills? Helen Graves Descendant of John Burroughs of Trenton via his son Benjamin Burroughs b. June 1742 who married Mary Van Horn in 1763. Within a few years (c. 1765), Benjamin moved to Pittsgrove, Salem Co., where he lived on land his father purchased from Mahlon Kirkbride. At that time, or shortly thereafter, Benjamin's brother Isaac and his wife Patience, also moved onto John Burroughs' land in Salem Co.; both Benjamin and Isaac are named as sons in the 1768 will, and by his will, their father gave them his land in Salem Co. on which they had been living since c. 1765.
