    3. Hi Nancy, It depends what you want. And how soon you want it. Orphan's Court records are under the care of the Surrogate of Salem County, beginning in 1804. Before that, everything was sent to Burlington, and now is kept in Trenton. The records cover various paper trails. Wills, bonds, administrations, applications, accounts, Divisions of Lands, petitions, & etc., to name just the ones I can think of this minute. You will have to be very specific with your request, and should address it to the Surrogate's office. Copies I believe, are a couple of bucks a page by mail, but someone in that office will know what the current prices and policies are. Phone : (856) 935-7510 is for the switchboard, and you can ask the operator for the Surrogate's office. Hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 p.m.., weekdays. I was advised by a county worker however, just a week ago, that they are "remodeling" that office, and records may be scattered on shelves helter skelter right now, til the new digs are ready. Which may mean a delay for however long that takes, plus any backlog that might develop. I would suggest though, if you cannot visit personally, you check with your local LDS. If you search their index on line, you might find they filmed many of the records, and it might just be easier (and cheaper ) to order a film to view through your local stake. You'd be doing your own research that way, and might discover things a lookup might not uncover. Go to <familysearch.org> Another alternative would be to check with the NJ Archives in Trenton <njarchives.org>. Their policies and listings of holdings are available via the website. You might have a wait of a month or two, but that may be better than nothing if Salem can't handle requests right now. Salem and Gloucester County Historical Societies, I believe have Salem's Wills on microfilm, from the earliest ones in Trenton, up to and including around 1900, as well as Divisions. Just not everything there is. So, there's another way to go. Val ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nancy M.
