Gail- I just wanted to let you know that since the changes were made recently to the message boards and the gateway, you cannot reply on a list to a board post that comes through the gateway. The reply address of gc-gateway is going to bounce as it isn't a valid address for sending mail to someone. It is just a generic address used to send the board posts over to the list. The only way currently to get the information to the board poster is to click the link in the gatewayed post and reply on the board. Joan

Jane - One source I found surprisingly helpful was the Indiana State Library at www.statelib.in.us/ Didn't know, when I found this site, that a lot of NJ folks made their way to Indiana. I was able to inter-library loan Rev. War rolls from them. Google them and see the many possibilities. Keep well -- Terri in WA Where you tend a Rose, A Thistle cannot grow.
Does anyone know of a source for information on early militias in NJ? My ancestor was commissoned as a Major in the Militia of Foot in Salem in 1748. I assume this was an appointment by the Royal Governor of NJ? Where would papers related to this period be held? Thanks. Jane
I found this book interesting. It is the Continential Army list for New Jersey. Does anyone have a similiar listing for the New Jersey Volunteers? They were a Loyist Militia in the American Revolution.
