In terms of your Dare family connections to Hogates and Counsellors, I'll let you know what I run into! The generation you connect with, Christopher Hogate born about 1837 I believe you said and married to Amanda Counsellor born about 1846, falls into line with my GGGgrandfather Daniel Counsellor. He was born April 1830. The 1830 Elsinboro census shows a brother between 5 to 10 years old. Don't know if that could be the John, father of Amanda Counsellor, in your line. For what it's worth.... article on MOORE BROTHERS' GLASS-WORKS were started in the year 1850........ He was I believe a German seventh day Bapist. born in 1795 in Salem Co. on Lower Alloways Creek,N.J. Now my Mom thinks they were Dunkards--which became a name from a valley in OH I believe. By 1850 he was in OH in Washington Co. Seems to be alot of Briggs in OH for some reason. Possibly his father was Abel Briggs b. 1740 or that was his Uncle. Records for N.J. are sparse for that time. 1850 lists Abel 53,Rebecca 43,Rachel 16,Sarah 15 Abner 14, Cary 12, emily11, Franklin? 8, John7, Stephen 4, Edithe 1. My Rachel married Joseph Steely--who had Quaker roots in N.J. I am still searching as this had been a breakthrough for some years. Any help as to names you know in Salem Co would be appreiated. carolyn

Hello Listers, A few years ago I was blessed with an angel who directed me to a person who was writing a book about some of my extended family. This person (the author) at the time was on a motorcycle trip out west and not available to contact. I don't remember the name, but my Patriot, Gideon Denny/Denney was included in the research. It went all the way back to Sweden in the 1500's and ended with my grandmother, Laura Denney Dilks. I did make a backup (which filled 3 folders) at the time, but my husband was organizing my papers just before he died and I cannot find what he did with them. Can you anyone help me? Does anyone know if the book was ever written? Or how to contact the person who was writing it? Are there any cousins out there with the same ancestry? Thank You, Joan Martin PS I remember Keen, Cox, Matson and Rambo as some of the ancestors. ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <NJSALEM-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 02, 2007 5:44 PM Subject: Re: [NJSALEM] I will do lookups Salem County Wills > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newjersey.counties.salem/992.104.1/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > hello! i have checked the index for your requested given names and do not > find a match in salem county. please remember this index includes up to > 1901 only. good luck to you! irene > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > NJSALEM-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message > > > -- > No virus found in this incoming message. > Checked by AVG Free Edition. > Version: 7.5.432 / Virus Database: 268.16.2/613 - Release Date: 1/1/2007 > 2:50 PM > >
