Is anyone familiar with the immigration from Lyon, France to Paterson as a result of problems with silk manufacturing in Lyon? My great-grandfather, Francois Garnier, emigrated from Lyon ostensibly to work in Paterson's silk factories, although I believe he may never have. This was in the late 1800s. He died in 1958 or so in the area. Is anyone familiar with the name Garnier in Passaic County and surrounds? My grandfather, Frank Bogart Garnier, my father, Frank James Garnier, and myself, Philip C. Garnier, were all born in Paterson.
