On page 369 of "The History of Bergen & Passaic Counties" (pub. 1882), reference is made to my greatgreat grandfather, Thomas Warren, with the comment that "he was a heavy loser by the great bank failure, which made him somewhat morose afterwards....". Thomas died in Paterson in 1857, age 54. Can someone tell me more about this "great bank failure", which most likely took place in the 1850's? Thank you. John Polhemus Calabash, NC
