Hi, My name is Jeffrey P. Van Schaik. I am new to the list and have just started researching my family history. The majority of my family come from Passaic Co., Paterson, NJ. My great-grandfather John Van Schaik and great-grandmother Regina Steinstra came over to the USA from Holland, Netherlands in 1910 per the 1920 Census and were naturalized in 1916. They settled in Paterson, NJ. I am interested in finding the ship they came over on and hopefully finding the naturalization papers. Their son Herman is my grandfather. He married Tillie Vreeland from Paterson. I know her father was Elias Vreeland and mother Elizabeth Jane Peterson. They resided in Paterson also. I don't have any farther back on this line yet. My father John is the son of Herman Van Schaik and Tillie Vreeland. On my mother's side my grandmother also grew up in Paterson. Her father's name was John Westhoven married to Anna Weenk. John Westhoven was born in Holland, Netherlands also and came over to the USA and resided in Paterson. Anna was born in Brooklyn, NY. Any information on my family is appreciated. I am interested in researching the Vreeland side since it seems that this family has been around in Paterson, New Jersey area for some time. Thanks for any help. Jeffrey P. Van Schaik
