Hi, all! I thought I would join in the roll call of surnames I am researching in Passaic County. All are in Paterson. John GARSIDE (born Paterson, Passaic, New Jersey in about 1859) (died in Unknown before 1920) Married Sarah C. TAYLOR (born Monticello, Sullivan, New York Jan. 6, 1862) (died Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri Sept. 21, 1951) in Paterson, Passaic, New Jersey in about 1882. Daughter: Edith E. GARSIDE (born Jan. 20, 1883 in Paterson, Passaic, New Jersey) (died March 23, 1967 in Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri) and married to Dr. Harry S. PRENTISS on Dec. 26, 1904 in probably DeSoto or St. Louis, Missouri) Also an Abram GARSIDE bought land in Callaway County, Missouri, in June of 1857 and it states that he was of St. Louis County, Missouri. Is Abram any relation to John? Where and when did John GARSIDE die? Did John have any siblings? Did Edith have any siblings? If you know anything of these GARSIDE family members, please get in touch with me at [email protected] Thanks! Patty Frazer [email protected] St. Louis, MO, USA

I have the Dec. of Intent to become a citizen, or the application for citizenship, for my gr.grandfather. I got it from the Passaic County Courthouse in Paterson. It is dated 1905. Now, where would I most likely write to get the actual citizenship papers? [email protected] Hudson, OH...P.S. I had written to the courthouse THREE years ago, finally got to go there myself TWO years ago and found the entry and later got the actual papers by mail. Then yesterday, AFTER THREE YEARS, I got a phone call from the clerk's office about my original letter saying the papers were found!! so, never give up hope in your searching!
Hi Everyone: Was wondering if anyone knows what ever happened to the Rootsweb home page ....??? The last apparent activity ther w Passiac NJ as way back in April.... That's the last month that any Queries were posted to the page. It is impossible now to post a Query or to register a surname... Not sure whether attempts just bounce because the address given to send such to is no longer valid, ot if it goes but noone is there to pay attention to them.. Anyone know if anybody is still running this site. ?? I'd like to register a Surname... but apparently cannot... Joe [email protected]
Hi to all I am searching for information on the family of Frederick Schofield b. March 1859 in England. His wife Elizabeth b. 1862 in England and son Harold b. 1883 in England. Harold may have had two older sisters. In the 1900 census they were living in Passaic Co., City of Paterson on Paterson AVe. Harold married Florence DEAN and had at least one son, Stanley b. 1905. Stanley d. Jan 1970. He was living in Haledon, Passaic Co. Sometime during the 1960s Stanley was living at 42 Colfax Rd, Wayne Twp. I am trying to track down this family for a cousin in England who is searching for them. I would like to find the children of Stanley. Also, if anyone has access to the 1920 census, may I ask for a index lookup? For Frederick & Elizabeth and Harold & Florence Schofield. There are two Frederick & Elizabeth Schofields in the 1900 census, both with a son Harold. The other one lives in Morris Co. This is not the right one. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Jane Burns [email protected]
I just posted the Obits for MUNN and KEEHNER on my web site. I spent the last week in NJ and at the New Jersey Historical Society. These folks are buried in Woodland and Rosedale cemeteries. The abbreviation "inst" is used. What does that mean? I do have plot and cause of death if anyone connects to these folks. Ira Munn was a child of Lydia Peck's. She was married to Orin Munn and divorced him and married Andreas C. Keehner. She is from the Henry Peck line. I do have all that information too. This is my direct line. Oops! I have the Obit for Abraham Mourison/Morrison too but I forgot to put it on the web page........ He was in the Civil War and I have his papers from the National Archives. I have NOT found his parents yet! Sandy Hart, RootsWeb Sponsor http://www.geocities.com/Wellesley/5372/ NJ/NY-H*ART,K*EEHNER,K*INNEY,D*ENNIS,M*ORRISON,P*ECK

I'd like to obtain the naturalization papers for my grandparents and it would be great if I could do this through the mail. If anyone has any information as to the cost, etc. that would be very much appreciated. Sandy Soltis Dunleavy
Hello, I am looking for information on William Smith born in Passaic county about 1838. His parents reportedly were William Smith and Nancy Winters but have not been able to find any proof of that. In 1850 he resided with John I parsell and Anna his wife (ages 66 and 65) William was 12. He entered the civil war using the name Purcell. When he applied for his pension he stated he was raised by his grandmother and used her name until after she died. Does anyone have any information on either of these families? William is my GG Grandfather and married And moved to Sussex County. Peggy Pharris
To all those that received my message about "quote" please accept my public apology. It was never intended to go on a genealogy site. In my address book I inadvertently clicked on the NJPASSAI-L site. To spam was NOT my intent. Again, I'm sorry. Leonard
