    2. I am searching for descendents of Frederick SCHOFIELD b. 1860 in England and wife Elizabeth b. 1862 in England. In 1900 census they were living in Paterson. Had one son Harold b. 1883 in England. Harold married Florence DEAN and had a son Stanley b. 1905 in Paterson. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. Thank You Jane Burns [email protected]

    3. Marilyn, I sent this message to two others (Bill and Jean) who mentioned POST: I have one POST connection, and have done little research: i. Jacob ECKHAR(D)T, abt. 1780- abt. 1849 m. Sarah POST, b. abt. 1780 ii. Jane ECKHAR(D)T, 1806-1889 m. Henry John VREELAND, 1803-1888 iii. Catherine VREELAND, 1824-1911 m. Abraham E. PULIS, 1820-1891 iv. Marcus J. PULIS, 1846-1927 m. Clara MERRITT, 1852-1917 Marcus and Clara PULIS are my g-grandparents. They ended up farming just across the border in Organge Co. NY, and are buried in Warwick (N.Y.) Cemetery. It is possible that Sarah is the daughter of Jacob POST. In the IGI, 1988, there is a christening in Bergen, Schraelenburg Dutch Ref. Church, on 22 APR 1781, for a "Sara" listing Jacob POST as father. I have not followed up. This is the right place and time period, I just haven't worked on this line. In the 1830 NJ Census, there are two POSTs in Pompton Twp., Bergen Co., who were b. 1780-1790: Abraham, who is aged 40-50, and is listed below Jacob ECHART in the census. Peter, also aged 40-50, on the next page of the census, so they are nearby families. There is another Abraham POST who is aged 30-40, so born 1790-1800, on the same page as Peter. There is also Abraham A. POST aged 20-30, so born 1800-1810, on the same page with the Abraham as the one aged 40-50. I'll be looking forward to hearing from you! --Noelle (a.k.a. Mrs. E. 3. Ha ha, How is that for a subject for a message to the list. Thanks for your cooperation, you folks are great. I promise to catch up the web site soon. So sorry for the delay. Right now I am having puter problems and only have some of my equipment working and have not reloaded most of my software. I was forced to reformat my hard drive. I have been holding it off for a long time but decided it was NOW to do it. So I did..so please bear with me a bit longer and I will have finished turning over Hudson and Sussex Counties to others and will have more time to concentrate on Passaic county. I am also working on Vol. III of The Ackerman Family as the people who were working on it are no longer able to do it..so I have undertaken the task to completely review the manuscript and to add in any corrections that are needed. If you have any Ackemerman info that you think I might not have..especially on descendants...and especially in Passaic County..please by all means, let me know. Also if you have any time to do any census work for Passaic County or any other county in NJ..I desperately need the 1900, 1910, 1920 Census for Ackerman/Ockerman and any variation of the spelling. I believe that they are on soundex and you could do the soundex number for Ackerman..forget what it is offhand. If anyone is interested please let me know. 3. Donna, You want to make sure you put it on the Hudson County list as that is where Constable's Hook was. Where did you come up with Barentsen for Jannetje Jans? According to my records she was Jannetje Jans van Sutphen...not a Van Sutphen but from there. She came over as a single lady from Holland, I believe. Unless I am confused. If you post this to the Dutch colonies List I bet you will get lots of response to it. I am also a descendant of this couple. I see where you get the Barentsen..from Barentson Van Horn..sorry..momentary amnesia. I am a descendant of hers twice through the Van Buskirk line..once on my mother's side and once on my father's side and also through Jannetje and her first husband Barent Van Horn..on my father's side. A Van Horn married a Van Buskirk on my father's side. I am up to my ears with lots of Ackerman stuff..so can't do too much looking at other things.
