    1. Re: Vreeland/Pulis/Post/Etal
    2. Noelle Van Pulis
    3. WOW! Here is my VREELAND and POST connection, and you have them! This is the message I recently sent to David and Sue: i. Jacob ECKHAR(D)T, abt. 1780- abt. 1849 m. Sarah POST, b. abt. 1780 ii. Jane ECKHAR(D)T, 1806-1889 m. Henry John VREELAND, 1803-1888 iii. Catherine VREELAND, 1824-1911 m. Abraham E. PULIS, 1820-1891 iv. Marcus J. PULIS, 1846-1927 m. Clara MERRITT, 1852-1917 Marcus and Clara PULIS are my g-grandparents. They ended up farming just across the border in Organge Co. NY, and are buried in Warwick (N.Y.) Cemetery. It is possible that Sarah is the daughter of Jacob POST. In the IGI, 1988, there is a christening in Bergen, Schraelenburg Dutch Ref. Church, on 22 APR 1781, for a "Sara" listing Jacob POST as father. I have not followed up. This is the right place and time period, I just haven't worked on this line. In the 1830 NJ Census, there are two POSTs in Pompton Twp., Bergen Co., who were b. 1780-1790: Abraham, who is aged 40-50, and is listed below Jacob ECHART in the census. Peter, also aged 40-50, on the next page of the census, so they are nearby families. There is another Abraham POST who is aged 30-40, so born 1790-1800, on the same page as Peter. There is also Abraham A. POST aged 20-30, so born 1800-1810, on the same page with the Abraham as the one aged 40-50. I have a bit more VREELAND information because I did more work on that line, very little on POST. The GARRISON connection is partly NY/NJ on my side, but mostly I worked on it on my husband's side, in Warren Co., NJ. It will take me a little more effort to respond to you on that. I have some commitments today and have to quit email. I'll be looking forward to hearing from you! --Noelle (a.k.a. Mrs. E. Garrison Walters0 ADDENDA: I have as parents of Henry John VREELAND: Jan VREELAND and Catherine WITTE. I have b./d. for Catherine VREELAND as: b. 31 Jan 1824 (not 1825) and d. 11 Jan. 1911. However, her d. record has her as b. 1826 (aged 85 y 11 m 10 d); died in Macopin. I did not have parents for Sarah POST, so you have really helped! I can import GEDCOM file (use Family Tree Maker). How would you like to share? Included sources/notes? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------- > At 08:24 AM 10/15/1998 -0400, Myra E. 1. Surnames and NJ state Census
    2. Baron, Mark A (FL51)
    3. I am searching the following surnames in Passaic Co.: BARON DEMARCO DELORENZO DOMINO MORELAND PIVIROTTO ROSENBERG Van SOEST VETRI Mark Baron New Port Richey, FL [email protected] P.S. : Those of you looking up census records. Don't forget that NJ did a state census every ten years on the "5s", i.e., 1905, 1915, etc. I have used the 1905 census and found it very helpful. Contains the same type of stuff as the US census but give you the in-between years. If I remember correctly, all of Passaic Co. is on about 4 or 5 reels. Available from your local LDS FHC.

    2. Noelle Van Pulis
    3. Jane, I have a SCHOFIELD in a corollary line, although she must have arrived in NJ prior to your couple. Willaim A. PULIS, 1790-1860 m. Fannie SCHOFIELD They are both buried in the West Milford (NJ) Cemetery on Ridge Rd., formly the PULIS family cemetery. Perhaps your SCHOFIELDs were related to the earlier arrivals. Since this is a corollary line, I have not been actively seeking any details. -Noelle At 06:41 PM 10/12/1998 EDT, [email protected] wrote: >I am searching for descendents of Frederick SCHOFIELD b. 1860 in England and >wife Elizabeth b. 1862 in England.
