    1. Newspaper In Paterson
    2. Could someone please help me in locating a newspaper that would have printed obituaries in 1909,1913,1914,1932 & 1942. My grandparents etc all died in Paterson and are all buried in Cedar Lawn Cemetery. Thank you so much. Marge (from Paramus now in Texas)

    1. Newspapers/obits--1890s and 1940s
    2. Hi Passaic Co. List: Would anyone know what newspaper(s) might have covered obituaries of deaths occurring in the Newfoundland area of West Milford Township in the 1890s and the 1940s? I am looking for an obituary of a Frances (Fanny) RUTAN POST sometime between 1889 and 1896 and also one for a Nelson POST who died in 1946. (These people are my great-grandmother and my great-uncle.) Or perhaps someone would know of a local genealogist who would have files of this type of information. Thank you for any and all ideas you may have. Regards, Marilyn Hough Stern

    2. but I must object. I am sitting looking at an antique drinking glass labeled " Souvenir of Patterson, N. J.". Much easier to change the name of that alleged city.

    1. Uniforms, St. John's School, Orange, NJ
    2. In the 30s and possibly earlier St. John's Grammar School in Orange, NJ had a junior police force. These students wore uniforms with caps and capes. They assisted the smaller students at several street corners surrounding the school. I graduated from St. John's in 1942 and at that time the police force used metal arm bands and over the shoulder white straps attached to a belt around the waist. I am very interested in securing a group picture of the jr. police force or an individual photo of anyone in uniform. I certainly will reimburse all costs including mailings. This photo would be included in my family history as my brother at one time was on that force while he attended the school. I thank you in advance for your time and effort. Charles [email protected]

Any ideas on why this is > happening? ----------------------------------- Melanie, it really has nothing to do with you at all. It is the server on the ISP (Internet Service Provider) that is "ordering" them for you. In fact, what you might see as an "out of order" posting may not be so on someone else's pooter. When you send an email, it will generally be transmitted to the host server (the "@xxx.com") and it will stay there until the person retrieves it to their PC. So, when you are sending email it will be "ordered" by the way it is stored on the host server --- as well, it can be "ordered" depending on how many stops along the way the email message must take. The internet is not a straight line. It is a rather convoluted network of computers all interconnected in some way (that is why we all can communicate with folks all over the globe), but with no central mechanism that controls the way information is handled (hence the sometimes "out of order" postings). Probably too much information. Rory http://www.erols.com/emcrcc/RGen.htm

One more web page for the road. ================================ I will check into the archives possibility. Although I agree that message threads are best kept to a mailing list and having them archived; the postings of directory information have not sparked any "threads." What if we were to pursue both avenues?--archiving and having a URL The URL can have a link to the archives. I can certainly understand about not having enough time; but I suppose that I am such a control freak that I still endeavor to handcraft my HTML. I certainly did not meant to denigrate any HTML editor nor anyone who uses one. Life is be far too short and too hectic at times -- so much of what is out there that provides convenience and can save us all some time is welcome. Rory http://www.erols.com/emcrcc/RGen.htm
