Beatrice Russell of Paterson, 44/5/1917, and had 1 child, George M. b. 6/10/1918. A second Mitchell family listed on Pages 200-201 is: Benjamin Walker Mitchell, was b. 11/2/1876 in Paterson, son of Thomas A. and Rose Ann (Hornby) Mitchell, natives of Manchester, England. Both parents died in Paterson. They had 2 other children: 1] Benjamin, 2] Laura m. Arthur Cruikshanks of New York City. Dear all, Today I sorted out a filing cabinet (which I inherited from my grandfather) and have found a scrap of paper which has some notes which I believe are related to my SCHOFIELD family in New Jersey, USA. The name SCHOFIELD doesn't actually appear on the paper, and I don't recognise the handwriting, but the names fit the little I know - and I don't think I have any other family living near somewhere called Totowa. Unfortunately there are no dates, but there are some new names and addresses... does anyone recognise them or the places, or can you help me to narrow down the time period? In 1920, William Nelson and Charles A. Shriner published 'The History of Paterson and Its Environs' which includes many biographies of Passaic Country residents of the period. Some time ago, I posted the ancestries of the pioneer families on the Dutch-Colonies list which I am sure can be accessed in the list archives. Beginning today, I will post the names in the biographical index. Many of the biographies contain some ancestral information useful for genealogy. Depending on the response, I will try to provide information on those listed. Many of the biographies include a photograph. This 3-volume set is available locally in many libraries.
