    1. [NJPASSAI-L] Naturalization records
    2. Kevin & Robin Krout
    3. Hello everyone. Why would my grandfather have obtained his naturalization records in Philadelphia if he lived in NJ all his life - except of course- when he came from Poland? Why wouldn't he obtained them from NJ? Thanks in advance.

    1. [NJPASSAI-L] Laurel Grove Cemetery help
    2. Kevin & Robin Krout
    3. Is anyone out there within driving distance to Laurel Grove Cemetery? If you have a digital camera - would you mind taking 3 pictures for me? You can always erase over them, too. I went there myself - couldn't find this one grave site - but someone else located it and said it was there. Unfortunately - this person is back in California. Would anyone be willing to look and take pics of 3 grave sites - 2 of which are fairly easy to find - I have location information for all three I believe. Thanks in advance! Robin

    1. [NJPASSAI-L] Census lookup "Offer"
    2. David A. Henry
    3. Okay, I thought the list was not to be used for "selling" your wares, and soliciting business. The recent "offer" to do Census work is actually a solicitation to lookup for a fee...if we all bombarded the lists with solicitations, then the lists would surely be in trouble. Plying ones trade in this forum, especially a forum that we have had to subscribe to, amounts to the placing of JUNK MAIL leaflets into our personal mail. Sorry to be so harsh, but this is not right. There are websites that people can ADVERTISE their trades, without having to clog our lists.

    2. Hi Kathy. Why hell? What did sort of problems did you encounter? Forewarned is forearmed. Also, what sort of information did you get on the papers (and what date was he naturalized?) In other words, was it worth all the trouble? Any other information would be much appreciated. Thanks for your response, Sandy

    1. [NJPASSAI-L] Where was Greensport (sp?)
    2. Hello everyone. I hope that someone can help me. I recently got the marriage certificate of my great-grandparents Garret Albert Smith who married Nellie Smith. They married in 1897 at which time Nellie was listed as living in Greensport (sp?) NJ. In the 1880 census Nellie was living in West Milford area. After the marriage they lived in both Bergen and Sussex counties. Does anyone know where this town might be. They were married by the minister of the Presbyterian Church in Hamburg which most likely was her religion as Garret was Dutch Reform and my grandmother and her two brothers were all christened in the Wyckoff Dutch Reform Church. Thanks for your help. Peggy Whites Creek, TN

    2. For those looking for naturalization papers If you don't find them in Passaic you might try the state Archives in Trenton. I was just there and got a copy of my GG grandfathers 1865 naturalization paper. Unfortunately I did not have time to see if they had his declaration of intent and other records. There were lots of other records but it was closing time and I had to head home. They had an index for Essex County and I believe for every other county that had naturalizations. Just got the naturalization paper itself. Good luck, Peggy Whites Creek, TN

    1. [NJPASSAI-L] Ithaca, NY pictures
    2. I bought a box of old photos at a garage sale. Among them are two 9X13" prints of a group of people dressed in sport jackets with the #15 on the breast pocket. It looks like a reunion. Were they from the class of 1915? Well dressed, prosperous looking people.. The same background is on both pictures. Different years. An embossed seal of the photographer is on the prints. "Robinson Studio R Ithaca, N.Y. I tried contacting Ithaca on line without success. http://www.ithaca.ny.us/AboutIthaca/ Free to anyone who can use them. Ethel Kay Konight

It was taken in Passaic in front of 2 stores; "Rowland & Shafto Real Estate" and "A. Kuenstler, Jeweler". I have no use for this picture and if anyone researching families by those names would like it, I'll be glad to let you have it for the cost of shipping it. Carole Bolard
