    1. [NJPASSAI-L] RE: 2 Johnson women
    2. I am looking for information on the following 2 Johnson women: Lovisa Johnson: she was married to Adolf F. Bergbom of Brooklyn NY. The only date I have is the birth date of her son (Adolf Robert Bergbom) 12/12/1893 in Brooklyn NY. Hilda Johnson: she was married to Adof F. Bergbom of Chicago, IL. (1st cousin of the above). We think she was born in Sweden abt. 1850. She died in Chicago before the 1910 Census. Hilda had several children, one GEORGE NATHANIEL BERGBOM--a dentist born in Chicago. Bergbom has been misspelled Bergborn, Bergbaum. ANY info. is greatly appreciated.

    3. Mr. Van Riper, I've never done any research through the Passaic Co. Hist. Soc. What materials do you have there? My mother was born in Paterson 1915. I'm originally from Wayne. It's a bit hard doing Passaic research from OR. If you could let me know what your resources are I'd appreciate it greatly. 2. Can anyone tell me if the Passaic County Historical Society is open? I know that they are not at Lambert Castle during the renovations, and I've called a few times and left messages but have not heard anything back from them. Was just wondering if their hours are limited during the summer months. Please respond if you have any current information. Thanks, Jean

    1. [NJPASSAI-L] 1897 -- German Presbyterian Church, Passaic, NJ
    2. Lorraine Davies
    3. Hello! Anyone know where the 1897 archived church records are for the German Presbyterian Church, which was first located in Passaic? It was also known as The First Evangelical Church (German). I have traced this church to its present location in Wallington (Bergen County). They do not have the records. I have also written to the national records center of the Presbyterian Church, to learn they do not have ANY church records for Passaic, NJ. Any suggestions? Lorraine [email protected]

    3. I want to thank everyone on this list who has responded to my query about the obituary and will for Dorothy Miska. I have had more responses than I can count. As a result, I have found the funeral home, the executor, the lawyer and the hospital and cause of death. In addition, I have spoken to a neighbor and I still have hope that the house has not been clean out and all is not lost. This is a wonderful list, with a very helpful group of people. Debbie

    3. Hi Debbie, Fair Lawn is in Bergen County. I found Dorothy Miska's obituary on www.bergen.com . Just search the obituaries under "Miska," and her name will come up. You can e-mail me if you have trouble finding it. She was a teacher in the Paterson School System. (Paterson is in Passaic County.) You should be able to find out information about the Will and probate proceedings by calling or writing the Surrogate of Bergen County. The last address and telephone number I have is as follows: (201) 646-2252. Bergen County Surrogate's Office Justice Center 10 Main Street Hackensack, NJ 07601-7000. That is from a 1996 source. If this doesn't work, I can get the address from a 1999 book at work. Good luck. Lorraine [email protected]

    3. Hi I must say that I have been OVERWHELMED by the number of responses offering support, tips, and practical help to my recent post on the Beswick family of Passaic Co. I certaintly lost count of the number of replies I received. I think I have written to all respondents personally, but in case I haven't please accept my apologies here and THANK YOU. BTW I now have TWO Wright Beswicks in Passaic Co. I suppose I'd better get my atlas out to see where you actually are ;-) Many thanks once again. 3. I just recently found out that one of my last surviving cousins (that I know of) passed away in May. Where would I go to find out if her will is still in probate? Does any one have access to obituaries of this year? The name is Dorothy Miska, she was 93. She lived in Fairlawn. That is in Passaic, right? I am not very good with NJ counties yet. I am concerned that any valuable genealogy matter will be lost forever. She was not married and she had no siblings. She was the end of her line. Please help! Any information of how to proceed will be greatly appreciate. Thank you Debbie

    3. My Ggrandparents Harry C. HART and Hester A. PALMER were married in Paterson at St. Paul's Protestant Episcopal Church by John Heffernan on 12/24/1871. City directories indicate the church was on Market, near Colt, and Rev. Heffernan was with the church 1870/71-1876. I want to learn the names of Hester's parents. The state of NJ didn't find a marriage record. Does anyone familiar with Paterson know if there is a more local approach to getting a marriage license, or how to contact this church, if it still exists? Thanks for your help- Nancy Nancy *Hart* Servin Oakland, CA orig. from Red Hook, NY (upstate-not Brooklyn)

    3. Hello....can someone on this list tell us how to extract a portion of a message that comes from the list, if we wish to reply to it....instead of resending the entire Mailing list posts (which are sometimes very lengthy)...and the person replying only wishes to say "thanks" or some brief statement or comment about a particular post? I, just like most of us, am on the Digest mode, where I get one post everyday, containing all posts made to the list the preceeding day, and when someone just hits "reply" to a digest mode List message, the entire Post they are commenting on comes back...all 15 messages or however many there are. There must be a simpler way. My Mailbox only holds so much, which is why I went Digest mode to begin with. Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on this.

    3. Hi, This is my first dip into American Genealogy !! Although the majority of genealogical interests are in England, I believe that some branches came to America, and it is for this reason I have subscribed to the list. I am particularly interested in a marriage I have found on the IGI as follows: Wright BESWICK married Hester WHOELL on 31 Mar 1866 at Paterson, Passaic, New Jersey. I am starting to look at the BESWICK family of Manchester England, and the most unusual given name of Wright seems to have been passed from generation to generation, and there is a family tradition of a family trip to America in the 1860's. Given this, I would like to know if the above marriage is connected. My questions are: 1. Are the civil marriage details available, and if so how much information would be available (eg place of birth, age) 2. To whom should I write to get the information ? 3. How much would it cost ? 4. Are any of you already researching this name ? Thank you in anticipation for your replies.
