I am new to the list, and am hoping someone can help me with a mystery I have. I am trying to find out who Debby Platt is that owned a tavern in Ocean County. I suspect that she is Deborah Potter who married William Platt in 1812. Either William died or left for other parts of the country before 1840. She appears on the 1840 census alone and on the 1850 census as an innkeeper. Living with her is Elizabeth Potter age 46 and Elizabeth Potter age 16. Deborah would have been born in 1793. According to the information I have Debby sold her tavern and was later murdered. Can anyone help me on this one? Lorie
