The 1870 census for Ocean County lists some Spragues with the occupation "oysterman" and "lobster fisherman". Those kinds of shellfish in these waters was a surprise to me - all I've ever seen down the Shore is clams. Does anyone know what happened to these Shore industries? Were they over-harvested by our pre-ecologically conscious ancestors? Thanks for whatever information you can give. Barbara
