My brother in laws grandmother is still living in Southren NJ and she remembers her grandparents owner slaves. If ya'll would like I could go and ask her if they lived in NJ at the time or not. My mother also has my great great grandfathers Civil war papers and he was living in NJ at the time. He joined up with a NY regiment. Not sure if this helps you or not.
