NJ Queries Forum Board URL: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NJ/Ocean?read=411 Surname: ------------------------- am a descendent of Emeline (nee Hall) Evernham & Isaac Evernham. Isaac Everingham was born on June 9, 1789, or May 17, 1788 in East Windsor NJ (it was only called Windsor NJ at that time) and married Emeline Hall (who was born November 9, 1794) on August 25, 1815. Emeline was the daughter of Jacob & Hannah Hall. Jacob was a veteran of the Revolutionary War having served in the 2nd NJ Regiment. Isaac is assumed to have died sometime before his widow, Emeline Evernham married Jesse Platt. The wedding of Emeline Evernham & Jesse Platt was recorded in an old Evernham Bible as being October 10, 1829. There is another date givenn for their wedding which is October 9, 1842. I do not know which date is correct. Isaac & Emeline Evernham had 5 children before Isaac died (which is assumed to be in early 1829 or late 1828 if the 1829 weddding date is correct). Their names being Elizabeth, Lydia, George, Benjamin & Andrew Jackson Evernham. Jesse Platt was born Dec. 23, 1778 and died Feb. 4, 1867 (both he and Emeline were buried at Good Luck Cemetary in Lanoka Harbor NJ). What may be of interest to you is that Emeline had a sister named Elizabeth Hall (1800-1869) who married Joseph Grant (1797-1884). Jesse Platt and Emeline Evernham had at least children; Amanda Platt born July 18, 1830 (married William Grant), ? Platt born Sept. 4th 1832 and Elizabeth Platt born July 27th, 1835. There was a Jesse Platt Jr. but it does not appear that he was the son of Jesse & Emeline. Probably from Jesse Sr first marriage. John Grant is listed as having been born June 27, 1799, and died Nov. 7, 1867 aged 67 years, 4 months and 10 days. He is buried in Bayville Cemetary NJ. He married on Jan. 6, 1827 to Deborah Lewis, born 1805- died July 20, 1895 also buried in Bayville NJ, probably the daughter of Jonathan & Deborah Lewis of Dover Township NJ both of whom were also buried in Bayville NJ. There is a Mrs. Elizabeth A. Grant 115 Laurel Ave. Toms River NJ 08753 who is (was?) an expert on the Grant/Evernham & Platt families and I am sure could fill you in on the connections. Hope this is enough to get you started!
