    1. Social Security Death Index
    2. I discovered something today that is interesting. I know most of us know these days you have access to the SSDI on diferent sites on the web ,like Ancestry and FTM online. Many of us also have the Cd's from family tree maker. This may be old news but Rootsweb has gone one step further with the Social Security Death Index on there web page. For starters theres goes to July 1999 and is updated monthly! Then it not only has a link to print out a letter to SS but also lets you leave a postem note for other researchers to see that are looking for that same person. He was born Dec 7, 1877 in Laurelton, NJ (now Brick Township); married Mary Ethel Emmons (daughter of Hiram Emmons and Mary Jane Potter of Freehold) on Nov 26, 1903; and died in 1950. I know that the NY and NJ Antills married into the Colden and Morris families. I just can't prove or disprove that any of them may have had connections to my Antills. Thanks, Sharon Antel Moses

    1. Mabel and Ken Zinn of Lakewood, New Jersey 1976-1992; Laurie Zinn, Boston, Mass. area 1986
    2. Frode Igland
    3. Dear lister, I have tried to search for Mabel and Ken Zinn on this list earlier (mid-May this year), and received quite a few good responses. Thank you all who responded. However, none that led me to my target. I have recently been informed that the Zinn's were living in Lakewood, New Jersey, at least in 1987, probably the entire period from her retirement in 1976 until 1992. I am searching for Mable and Ken Zinn, and their daughter Laurie Zinn, about whom I have this information: Mabel Zinn was born appr. 1910 in Wadena, Saskatchewan, Canada. Her maiden name was Faust, being the daughter of John Faust (from Sweden) and Lena (maiden surname Varpe from Bremanger in Norway). Mabel had an older sister Anna, born appr. 1904, died in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1987. Mabel and Anna are my father's first cousins. Mabel was a nurse and worked in Angola 1936-1941, and in Brazil until 1946. She married Ken Zinn in Feb. 1946 and lived in New York. Their daughter Laurie was born in July 1947. Later they worked in Washington State, and in 1966 they returned east where Mabel worked in a hospital in South Bronx. She retired in 1976. In 1992 Ken and Mabel Zinn lived in their home in a retirement community in South Central New Jersey, according to her own story told in a Wadena history book in 1992. In her sister Anna's obituary in 1987, Mabel was said to live in Lakewood, New Jersey. Laurie Zinn was reportedly living in the Boston, Mass. area in 1986. She was not married, according to Anna Faust, her aunt. Are there anybody on the list that knows Mable and Ken Zinn or their daughter Laurie Zinn, and can tell me anything further of their whereabouts? Anybody with access to obituaries, phone directories, or any other information, that can take me any further? Awaiting responses in anticipation. Mr. Frode Igland Bergen, Norway (not New Jersey ;-)

They were all living in the same home in Jackson Township, Ocean Co, NJ. Thomas was listed as a weaver with property worth $500. All were born in NJ. 2) Page 29: John Shutts, age 64; and Rebecca Shutts, age 62. John's profession is listed as lawyer. His property is valued at $230. They were also in Jackson Township, Ocean Co, NJ. In the 1840 Census I have: 1) John Shutts head of household in Dover Township, Mon Co, NJ. He has 1 male 10-15; 1 male 15-20; 1 male 50-60. Total 3 male persons all employed in manufacturing and trades. 2) Arabella Shutts head of household in Upper Freehold Township, Mon Co, NJ. She is listed as being female 50-60 years old and living alone. No employment. In the 1830 Census I have: 1) John Shutts head of houshold in Washington Township, Burlington Co, NJ. (I believe this is now part of Mercer Co.) He has 1 male 5-10; 1 male 10-15; 1 male 15-20; 1 male 40-50; 1 female under 5; 1 female 15-20; and 1 female 30-40. Total 7. I am sorry that I don't have a lot more families but I was just trying to find my line and didn't find very many people with this surname in early census records. My line is first found in the 1860 Census: Page 71: David Shutts, age 47; Lydia Shutts, age 50; David V Shutts, age 19; Jane A Shutts, age 17; Eliza Shutts, age 15; Jacob Shutts, age 13; Horatio Shutts, age 10; Christopher Shutts, age 8; Malvina Shutts, age 6; Mary Shutts, age 5; and Jane James, age 33. They were all living together in Jackson Township, Ocean Co, NJ. There P.O. was Goshen. All were born in NJ. I was able to trace Lydia's lineage for a little bit. Her maiden name was Holman. Her father was Lewis Holeman/Holman and her mother was Jane Truax. In a file in the Ocean Co Hist Soc Library I found information that lists Lewis's parents as William Holeman and Euphemia Reynolds; and Jane's parents as John Truax and Charity Van Hise. But I do not have paperwork to prove this last generation. If you are able to locate any earlier records for the Shutts line please let me know. I am sure that they are probably all related as there are so few of them in the area. Peggy Apostolos River Falls, WI
