Mornin' Listers, I am searching for the funeral home records of the O.W. Havens Funeral Home from Lakewood. H.E. Brown was the embalmer there - and there seems to be some question as to how this funeral home closed. Anyway, when Harry Brown retired/became too old to work/became ill/or was forced to stop working by the state (depending on what story you believe) Mr Havens closed the funeral home. He & his wife lived above it and had no children or no close relatives. When he died in 1970's his estate was auctioned and proceeds went to two older ladies who were friends of his, one who died not long after him and the other is very old. She was a friend of the family and I am sure she knows where records are but she is very old and I am not sure where she is now. Any help in locating any knowledge of these records will be FANTASTICALLY appreciated. Mornin' Listers, Sure hope the snow isn't as bad there as it is here in Northern VA....we have about 14" of the fluffy stuff outside. Yuk ! I sure would appreciate it if I could find a volunteer that might be going over to the Toms River County offices to look up a will & deed for me. Or, failing that, supply me with a name and address of the correct office that I could write to asking for a copy of a will & deed. I am interested in locating a will for Salvatore Sapienza who died Dec 14, 1934 at his home in Jackson Township (VanHiseville). I'll appreciate your help, thanx, Jack Jack Cipriano Potomac Falls, VA POINTer #1645 ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Children of RICHARD RUNYON and MARGARET HERRICK are: i. CAROLINE (CARRIE) RUNYON, b. 1854; m. FRANK P. LIPPENCOTT. 2. ii. GEORGE J. RUNYON, b. Abt. 1863, NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ.; d. Aft. 1892, DAKOTA TERRITORY. Generation No. 2 2. GEORGE J. was born Abt. 1863 in NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ., and died Aft. 1892 in DAKOTA TERRITORY. He married MARIA A. Hi, I am fairly new to these lists and am trying to locate my great-grandfather. I have a copy of his death certificate in front of me, plus details of what I have tried to date with no results. Here goes: Salvatore Sapienza, age approx 87, of Van Hiseville, Jackson Township, RD3 Lakewood, NJ. As a farmer he died at home 14 Dec 1934, he was buried by HEBrown Funeral Home of Lakewood in a cemetery in Holmanville, NJ. I visited the Historic Cemetery of Holmanville but could not find a headstone. Called the local historians, who had records for that cemetery, they had no record of him. Found out that Brown Funeral home was put out of business by the state of NJ, but couldn't find any funeral home around that area where Brown's records might be. Called a number of Catholic CHurches (can't remember names) but no seems to have records of his death. Called Jackson Township with no results there either. Sent a letter to the Ocean County Historical Society and they could provide no assistance. So, I'd appreciate it if anyone could offer me suggestions of my next steps. I imagine I should try the Church again, but need to know what Catholic Church was open in 1934 - of course, I'm assuming (ouch) that being Italian -- he was Catholic. Does anyone know of the Brown Funeral Home records? What other possible cemeteries are there? Is there still a Dr. Thompson in Lakewood? and so on. Will appreciate whatever info you may think of. Separate question -- what is the church, denomination, etc. in Lakewood I believe, with the Russian 'onion dome' top to it? I've driven thru Lakewood a thousand times and never asked.
