Good morning listers! I am going to present you with an interesting (to me) problem and hope to hear from someone on the list. My grandfather, Julius Foster, is listed on the 1920 NJ census with his wife and those adult children who were living at home. Included in this family is Charlotte Van Note, Julius' sister-in-law and according to the information on the census: Carrie Druman, ADOPTED, age 14 at last birthday, birth parents were German born, spoke German. The last name is difficult to read but I believe the first three letters are correct. Who is this girl? I have checked the following adoption records in the Ocean County Court House at Toms River. Index to Surrogate' s Dockets A-D 1850 to Mar. 31, 1955. Minutes of Orphans Courts No. 12 thru 15. Inventories for Guardians #1 Ocean Co., NJ The secretary of the Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church found no mention of her in church records. I have access to family letters that are in my cousin's house in Bay Head, there is no mention of her in the letters. Julius Foster's will written 28 Feb. 1925 does not mention her. They are: Joseph TILTON Died 3rd Month 8th 1858 Aged 83 Years 2 Months 28 Days Obadiah TILTON (no inscription on the 1953 List) But, the 1903 Stillwell List shows: Obadiah TILTON HANCE Died 8 Month 26th 1825 Aged 9 Years 5 Months 11 Days W. Henry BORDEN Born 20th Day 10th Month 1831 Died 14th Day 2nd Month 1920 There is a marker next to this grave to indicate that W. Henry was a member of the Eatontown, NJ Fire Department. Janie BORDEN Wife of W. Henry Borden Born 9th Day 10th Month 1842 Died 2nd Day 7th Month 1913 The following HANCE stones are badly deteriorated and are very hard to read. The inscriptions are taken from the Lists. Robert H. HANCE Born 4th Month 4th Day 1798 Died 9th Month 3rd Day 1876 Aged 78 Years 4 Months 29 Days Elizabeth HANCE Wife of Robert H. Hance Died 6th of 6th Month 1872 Aged 70 years 2 Months 24 Days William HANCE Died 1st Month 30 1827 Aged 66 Years 8 Months 10 Days Margaret Wife of William Hance (NOTE: The 1953 List - Died 8th Month 22nd Day 1819) (NOTE: The 1903 List - Died 8th Month 22nd Day 1849) Aged 80 Years 9 Months 28 Days Since this stone has deteriorated so badly, I can not confirm the year of death. seeking info on William Holman (1764-1835?) married to Sarah Perrine(1780-1851?), I believe from around the Holmanville area. One daughter, Catherine married Reuben Groves. Guess what all you Elias Hullfish Chambers fans?? I found out that Elias Sr.'s father Ralph Chambers was married to Ann Hullfish!! Makes sense. So now, does anyone have any info on Hullfish? Checking Genforum and Rootsweb...no Hullfish or Hulfish. Checking Familysearch...lots of Hulfish (one L) in New Jersey! Later than mine, though. Just thought I'd toss that out.
