Hi, list watchers - My great-grandfather was commander of C K Hall Post of the G.A.R. in Asbury Park in the 1890s. His name was WILLIAM HENRY CARMAN, a contractor and builder in Ocean Grove. Does anyone have any idea of how I might get some information about this post? [National Headquarters referred me back to "local resources"]. Thank you for your consideration...........................................Virginia
Hi All, Did any of you have ancestors that loved Bells? Strange question I'm sure but after a trip to the neighbourhood thrift store I've found myself in possession of the 1976 Directory of THE AMERICAN BELL ASSOCIATION. The booklet contains over 100 pages of names, phone numbers and addresses of people through-out the US who belonged... Let me know if you would like a look up... Hi All, I am searching for information on a Dr. Isaac Shenfeld and his wife Reva Shenfeld who resided in Atlantic City, New Jersey during the 1920's and 30's. Dr. Shenfeld was listed in the 1930 Atlantic City telephone book along with his wife as living on Pacific Blvd. Dr. Shenfeld was apparently known as the good doctor as he did much of his doctoring for free... or for trade. I believe that Reva (or Reba) Shenfeld was my paternal grandmother's sister. Both women and their husbands would have come from Odessa, Russia (now Ukraine) and Reva (Reba) would have immigrated between 1908 and 1920. My paternal Grandmother's name was Manya Waltuck (nee Goldberg/Goldenberg) she was born in 1886 and Reva would have been born after her as she was the eldest daughter. Thank you Sincerely, DeborahSEARCHING GOLDBERG/GOLDENBERG, Odessa, Ukraine/Russia; New York; California; New Jersey; Washington; BC, Canada VALTUKH/VAL'TUKH/WALTUCK/WAHLTUCK/WALTUCH, Odessa Ukraine/Russia; New York; BC, Canada TARSHIS, Odessa, Ukraine/Russia; Washington; California; BC, Canada SHENFELD (Dr. Isaac and wife Reba), Odessa, Ukraine/Russia; Atlantic City, NJ ROSENFELD/ROSENFELT, Odessa, Ukraine/Russia; France WOLFMAN, Odessa, Ukraine/Russia; Washington; BC, Canada POKARALAKY/POKARALASKY, Odessa, Ukraine/Russia; USA or Canada Need more info see my web page at: http://mypage.direct.ca/d/dwdwone/index.html SEARCHING: AYERS, East Grinstead, Sussex, England; Oxted, Surrey, England BISH, Godstone, Surrey, England; Oxted, Surrey, England SALES, Oxted, Surrey, England; Ontario, Saskatchewan; BC, Canada Need more info see my web page at: http://www.angelfire.com/me2/familypix/sales.html SEARCHING TROMBLEY or TREMBLAY, Quebec, Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, CANADA; Kansas, Illinois, Oregon, Washington, California, New York, Louisiana, USA possibly Mexico... I can connect to Joseph Soper and Mary Wright through their daughter Mercy, who married David Rulon. While I haven't met Betty Grant, she and Ann Keklak did an enormous amount of work on the Spragg (Sprague) families also. I urge anyone who hasn't been to OCHS to go; its a great place for research - volumes of material, and wonderful staff.
Hi! Is anyone researching Woodfields from this area or surrounding counties, circa early to mid 1800s? Thanks! Ted Bogert
I have met Betty Grant at the OCHS. Lovely person. I have Wrights from Burlington County, NJ and I bet they eventually got back to LI too. Jackie, once a jersybel
Can anyone connect to these? Thanks. Sue WRIGHT JOB WRIGHT of Oyster Bay, New Jersey, married Rachel Townsend. ANTHONY WRIGHT, son of Job and Rachel, married a woman named Elizabeth. They removed to Staten Island. MARY WRIGHT, daughter of Anthony and Elizabeth of Staten Island, married Joseph Soper on June 3, 1746. Mary Wright died after 1797. ____________- Source: Grant, Elizabeth Ann, Compiler The Soper Family of Ocean County (NJ), Published by the Ocean County Historical Society, 26 Hadley Avenue, Toms River, New Jersey, 08754.
Hi, I want to thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes, but I am sorry to report that my Dad passed away at 4:30 this afternoon. Another WWII veteran has fought his last battle. Please don't tie up the Rootsweb pages with your responses, if you wish to, please respond directly to me. Thanks again, Ken

I'm looking for evidence that any of these men are the Thomas and/or William of my research. thanks for any leads... kirby in NC kirbz@netmcr.com
Here is another adoption puzzle I hope someone can help solve. The 1900 census for Ocean County, NJ lists the family of Samuel and Lydia (Miller) Van Note. Included in this family is an adopted daughter, KATE CAMPBELL. She was probably 4 years old. Again, under the direction of a clerk in the Ocean County Office, I have checked the adoption records and do not find a record of this adoption. Any comments would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
