Rootsweb has made available a service whereby messages posted to county GenConnect boards can be automatically sent to the appropriate county list. List administrators have a choice to accept the service or not. It would eliminate frequent checking of the GenConnect boards to see new stuff that's been posted, but I really don't know how much more mail it would generate. It would, I think, broaden opportunities to connect with people who may not be current list members. This is your list - do you want that connection made? Barbara

Hi All, As promised I am sending along the link to my family page that contains a link to my families photo album. To access the photo's you have to enter the main page and then scroll down to the forget-me-nots below the photo of my grandparents Manya and Joseph Waltuck. The majority of the photo's were taken in Odessa before 1930. They contain the only known photo's of my great aunts Reva, Polia and Jennie along with their husbands. I have no idea's as to the surnames (in Jennie's case first name also) of Jennie and Polia's husbands... do you? One question I pose is if my great grandfather's tombstone may still be standing someplace in Odessa... there is a photo of it in the collection. Another question is if someone can identify the uniform that Isaac Shenfeld is wearing in the first photo, which is of Reva and Isaac Shenfeld. Please let me know what you think and if you are aware of any connections with your family or perhaps the where abouts of any of the family descendants. my ancestor [Nathaniel KIRBY] died intestate 1833, Monmouth co, NJ. based on my research to date, I've made the presumption that he died 'unexpectedly' as those who were ill had drawn up wills in one fashion or another. from wills & deed we know his grandfather was a carpenter; from a story about his widow removing to Illinois, she dreamed her sons would have a chance to be anything other than fishermen, out on the prairies. so, I'm beginning to wonder if my ancestor was a fisherman, hence his unforseen death [all sorts of potential scenarios pop in mind]. the author of the story mentioned, having lived in IL, spoke of her ancestor being from the 'coast' though I don't think of Upper Freehold twp as being a 'coastal town' per se. my question: is there any way to know/places to look? nothing from his inventory leads us to any sort of profession... what were common professions in 1833? how early did such a thing as a city directory exist [assuming it had more to do with telephones than anything]? will records be found as to taxation or anything else like that for the time period? I'm aware of 'colonial' papers & records; there are fabulous maps that help place people in the area later on [i.e., 1851 Lightfoot]. my missing time period --1790-1840--coincides with the census records that no longer exist [& other helpful things]. I'm looking for new rocks to turn over so I can grub for the worms I might find there. so far it is this method that has found the info I have to date, so it's not a 'bad' method, but I don't always know the best places to look for the rocks, from here in NC. thanks as always, to some great lists! ^^^^^ ^^^^^ ^^^^^ ^^^^^ ^^^^^ ^^^^^ kirbz@netmcr.com Kirby Heard in NC/US searching LUNAN and ANDERSON in SCT; JONES, MELL and HEARD in GA; KIRBY, GASTON and BRITTON in NJ

Frank Lippencott appears in Descendants of William Cranmer of Elizabethtown, NJ by Jean Shrposhire Harris & Murray Thomas Harris, 1997. He is # 2296, son of Samuel Arnold Lippincott and Frances ?. Samuel's mother was a Cranmer. I have a bit more on his lineage if you're interested, but Frank's marriage is not mentioned. Good luck! Susan Penrod

Hi everyone... I've recently started making rounds to my neighbourhood thrift and second hand stores... even big chain thrift stores like Value Village and started picking up assorted directories. I'm not just talking about the old phone books, but also the directories put out by clubs, associations and church groups. Many of these directories list names, addresses some even have birth dates associated with people...not to mention photo's and all give a reference date... I have even asked a few thrift stores to put away such items for me as many of them think they would have no resale value and just through them away.... Well they do have value... The information contained could be invaluable to some in proving a link to an area for their relative.... I suggest that we all try this method... the books are cheap, they generally cost me about 10 to 50 cents each. Some are very obscure but you just never know who will be looking for whom and lets face it genealogy on the net is about sharing information... Have a look at your local church, hospital and charity thrift stores... you never know what you might find and you will be supporting a charity to boot. Hello to all, I recieved copies of pages from the New Egypt Press dated from 1950 and got a kick out of some of the things they wrote about and I thought I'd share a few. LOCAL HAPPENINGS John Leming and Nicholas Badulin, both of Brooklyn, spent the week end at their respective homes here. Miss Mary VanArsdale is a surgical patient at Paul Kinball Hospital, Lakewood. A large delegation from Cassville and Leesville were transported in Mrs. Ethel Colgan's bus, of Leesville and private cars on Friday evening to attend the annual meeting of the Tri-County Rural Electric Company, held in the Lithuanian Hall, Throckmorton St. Freehold. Sgt. and Mrs. Robet Milner and son have moved to Fort Dix. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Turtora, of Lakewood, were Friday evening callers on Mr. and Mrs. Lambert Youmans. Miss Arlene Johnson, of Freehold, was a weekend guest of her grandparents, Mr.and Mrs. Arthur Burke. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Manzoni, of Patterson, were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold VanArsdale, Jr. Private Allen Asay, of Fort Dix, spent the weekend at his home here. Mrs. Nora Youmans was a New Egypt visitor on Wednesday. Mrs. Henry Schenker, who has been on the sick list for serveral weeks, continues to improve. Mr. Arthur Y. Letts, who has been a patient at the Mercer Hospital, Trenton, returned to his home here on Saturday. He is improving nicely. Hope you enjoy these. Debbie Price

My all time favorite! >From The Democrat in Madison Co., MO BEE TREE THEFT IS CHARGE Jos Ellis appeared at the office of the Prosecuting Attorney Tues and made an affidavit for a warrant against Lester (Leslie) King, son of Gus King, charging him with the theft of a bee tree that allegedly belonged to Ellis. Ellis told the officers that he had found the bee tree upon permission of the owners, and that two or three weeks ago young King cut and took the honey. This is believed to be the first warrant ever applied for in Madison Co on a bee tree theft charge. Thurs Sep 3 1936 I have many others which include who visited who and who was sick, and so and so returned from a trip with a brand new car, etc, but this is my all time favorite. Hope you enjoy it.
