I have a deed that mentions Captain Baldwin's property. This is all I know about him. Judy Ullman Morris County Deeds for the Mourison, Morrison, MowersonFamilies 1796 Deed Book C, p 27 15 Jul 1796 between Dennis Daly and Rachel, his wife, of Pequanock and Mowerse John Mourison of Pequanock for Sum 95 pounds 16 shillings money of state of NY of gold orsilver QUIT CLAIM Land Pequanock. Beginning 7 rods west of house of Captain Daniel Baldwin now lives to an old stump on the North side of the road thence North bounded on the said land to John Davenport’sland along said line to road thence as road runs to said beginning supposed to contain 6 acres more or less and also another tract being in town of aforesaid. Beginning at a stake corner of course S64E1c55l to SE corner of a stone house on said lands thence running west 13c26l to lands of Samuel Stiles thence by the said Stiles land N6c32l to lands of JohnDavenport E7c46l to a stake in the road thence along the road to the first corner containing 6 acres and 52/100 acres strict measure. Signed by Dennis and Rachel Daly Witnesses were Jacob Mowerson and James VanDuyne. 12 Nov 1796 John J. Truck interviewed James VanDuyne one ofthe witnesses of deed and he stated he saw Dennis Daly sign the indenture and he saw Jacob Mourison sign the indenture. Rachel Daly was interviewed and she said she signed indenture. Recorded 21 Nov 1796.
