    3. Does anyone know how to get the info for Civil War soldiers, except from the Natl Archives? I have the name, rank, unit and company, but would like to know any other info. Alice Gershman quayle@earthlink.net

    3. Alice Try the NJ State Archives. The Guide to their collections says: "The State Archives will search for references to soldiers in the published Civil War roster (mentioned above) and in the compiled muster rolls.** There is also an extensive, unindexed collection of manuscripts relating to the war. ..." "** The State Archives will answer requests by mail regarding this collection." Note that the Guide is a few years old now, and I believe that the Archives may be handling email queries, as well. Also, they may have additional information on their new, extensive website. http://www.state.nj.us/state/darm/links/archives.html Good Luck. Joan Joan M.
