I am looking for any source of information on the Rockaway Cornet Band. I found a few newspaper mentions to the organization, and I will look for some more but I was wondering if the group name was familiar to anyone at all? Has anyone ever read the book "Rockaway Borough�A History" or "Rockaway Borough Diamond Jubilee" at all? In my quest to find more about the guys that started the Bloomingdale Cornet Band in 1884, I found that the first band leader was living in Rockaway in the 1880 census. After finding the mention of the Rockaway Cornet Band (so far 1884 and 1883 in the Jerseyman and the Dover Iron Era), I am on the search to find out if the Rockaway band existed in 1880, and the possiblilty that Alfred Bedson was a member (or his son, Thomas "Fred" Bedson). Just thought I would ask. I did a google search but could not find any page or contact info about a historical society in Rockway Borough. Thanks, Dave Wisneski Pequannock, NJ
