I remember hearing about an Asa Hall who lived in Butler, 7 miles south of Butler, for many years. I will check with some of our older people in town. As for the Newfoundland Cemetery, it's in Morris County, Jefferson Township. The boundary of Morris and Passaic counties is the Pequannock River, which flows through Newfoundland with most of the locality in West Milford Township of Passaic County; part of Newfoundland is also legally in Rockaway Township of Morris County. The old Newfoundland Methodist Church is on NJ Route 23 south, originally Paterson-Hamburg Turnpike since the early 1800's, and that's where the cemetery remains although the old church is now a professional building. The present church is located in the West Milford section of Newfoundland about a 1/2 mile away.
