Hi Everyone, I have been reading all of the email about the Ellis Island Site and it has been very interesting. My ancestor came to the US just before Ellis Island was in operation. I have been told that he might have come through Castle Island. Does anyone know anything about this place? What years it was in operation? Are there any records available? I believe my SCHMIDT ancestor came from Germany to NY about 1847-1853. Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
