    3. Hello, List: We are all researching our ancestors HARMON J. VAN RIPER who m. CATHARINE WINYALL 1848 in Philadelphia, PA. Harmon is listed in one record as a waterman/boatswain of Whippany. Their first child, Helen, was born 1849 in Hanover, Morris County, NJ. Helen died unmarried in PA. Second child, Catharine Amelia (Kate) b. 1851 in Newark, NJ. Kate married Charles Lang Cobb 12/20/1873 in Philadelphia. That couple lived in NYC. We believe Harmon may have been a canal worker on the early Morris Canal. We are interested to know more about the town of Cobbs Corner. Are there directories for any of these areas, particularly Morris County, for 1840-1850? Help much appreciated. Thank you.
