    3. The name looks Dutch colonial. Early Dutch followed the pattern of using their father's first name as their second name. (or they used the place they came from, hence all the "vans", or sometimes their occupation.) Tunis is a Dutch first name, so you might check New Amsterdam sources, or Bergen County sources.
