Hi, Is there a list available of those buried at the John P. Cook Burying Ground at the Rockaway River Country Club, and where can I find it? Maryann
Inscriptions for the John P Cook Burying Grounds can be found at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~njmorris/cemeteries/denville2.htm Some background info: John P. Cook Burying Grounds Located on the Rockaway River Country Club Golf Course Commonly referred to as the Cook Cemetery, this burial place is located at the site of the first Methodist Church in Rockaway Valley, on land belonging to the Cook family. The Church was organized in 1810, and functioned in a small frame building on the Cook property until about 1841, when the building was removed to a lot in Denville and rededicated for Church use. This original Church was known as Cook's Church and it was located on Cook's Corner. The burial site is located in Denville Township, exactly 0.3 miles due north of the intersection of Pocono and Powerville Roads. The stones may be seen on a small hillock, completely surrounded by the golf links of the Rockaway River Country Club. The earliest inscription is dated 1817 (but is no longer readable), while the next ones are dated about 30 years later. Undoubtedly many persons are buried here without extant markers. The above was taken from a manuscript of Bob Illig's that he referred to as the Denville Cemetery Book.
