    3. Kevin, I have a "smidgen" of "Dutch" blood,... my great-grandmother was a Van Etten whose family came from Ulster Co NY... and presumably descended from the first Van Etten , Jacob Jantsen of the Dutch era and area .. But am curious a to why you say to read the book "Daily Life in Rembrandt's Holland"? A few of list have commented on the genealogy "hobby"... and it is fun, and the best parts are finding an unusual "story" about one of ones' ancesstors who came to some disreputable ends. My husband and I have three or four of thsoe ....so it's amazing , isn't it, they we turned out so well! 9:-) Jeannette

    2. Hello Jeannette; I recommend the book as the time period is roughly 1600-1660, when the early Dutch settlers left Holland and came to New Amsterdam. I purchased a used copy at Abebooks.com. I have found the Dutch fascinating and enjoy reading and learning about them. Take care, Kevin
