Hi, Does anyone know if New Jersey recorded state censuses? Some states did and I wondered if New Jersey was among them? If so, for what years and how would one obtain a copy? Thanks Debbie Bleger
For morris county, I think parts survived in 1875, and most or all for 1885 and 1895. I have not checked 1905 and 1915 but I believe all of morris county exists for those years. I know morristown library has them, as I think NJ archives in Trenton, other libraries her ein NJ have parts of them. I am not aware of any county wide index for any state census for morris county. There might be some for individual townships but I am not aware of any offhand. Debbie, NJ did a State Census on the "5's". I've searched (no index) in the late 1800-early 1900 time period. I found Monmouth County census in the Historical Society in Freehold. I don't know about Morris County, but I'm sure you can make some other contacts in Morristown to help you.
