I have a pair of questions from opposite ends of the county. The records of the First Reformed Church of Pompton Plains shows Peter Van Houten and wife Elizabeth Berry baptising at least seven children at the church. for baptisms in 1801 (Maria), 1805 (James), and 1816 (Martin) Elizabeth uses what is apparently her maiden name Elizabeth Berry. In 1811 (Ellen) and 1813 (Sarah Ann) she uses Elizabeth Allen. In 1808 (Elizabeth) no last name is given for the mother. My question is how does the name Allen fit here? When Elizabeth Berry was born in 1782 no father is listed in her baptism (mother: Elizabeth Berry). I have looked through several published genealogies for Van Houtens, Roomes, and Ryersons who mention Elizabeth Berry (b. 1782) but they have contradictory data and have only confused the issue for me. Any advise would be welcome. In Dover, I am looking for information on the family of David and Sarah Ann (Evans) Sims. Both were born in Walse and David died in 1929 in Newark and Sarah Ann in 1926 in Dover. Both are buried in Orchard Street Cemetery, Dover. I have a good deal of information on their ten children but have several bits of missing information on births and marriages. Also looking for David;s and Sarah Ann's parent. Many thanks for any help you can provide. Bob Bailey
