    1. [NJMORRIS] Morristown in 1752
    2. Greetings, This is a slightly bizarre question: Does anyone have any idea what the population of Morristown and its immediate vicinity might have been in 1752? My 5G GM Abigail Unknown was apparently born there in May1752. She was married to Jedidiah Frost and was the mother of my 4G GF Ezekial Frost. I was taking a 'shot in the dark' on the WorldConnect database and did a search for any Abigails born in NJ in 1752. I found an Abigail Crane who was apparently born within two days of the date I have for 'my' Abigail, apparently also in Morristown. I can't imagine that there were too many children named Abigail born in Morristown at that time within two days of each other although I suppose it is possible. Abigail Crane was the daughter of Edmund Crane and Abigail Kitchell and I've not be able to find much more about her (including whether she lived to adulthood or if she was married and if so to whom). Anybody know anything more about her? Regards, Rick Novak

    3. Rick: Your message, below, speculates that Abigail Crane, b. May 1752, dau. of Edmond Crane, may have married Jedidiah Frost. Of the twelve children by Edmond Crane and Abigail Kitchel, there are three daughters about whom nothing more than a birth date is known...or so it seems. These three, the only children not mentioned in their father's will, are Eunice Crane, Abigail Crane, and Benonie Crane (female). In the "Crane Chronicles" by Jo Ann Crane-Cortison, the following appears on p. 79: ABIGAIL CRANE-b. 28 May 1752. There are no other records of Abigail Crane, and she is not named in her father's will of 1761. This most likely suggests that Abigail Crane died in infancy or early childhood. "Genealogy of the Crane Family" by Ellery Bicknell Crane shows this Abigail Crane being born 28 May 1752 (as no. 139) but provides no further reference to her. Incidentally, my interests are with Abigail's sister, Affia Crane, who married Abraham Pierson and lived in Morristown.
