Posted on: Morris County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NJ/Morris/1869 Surname: KEARNEY, KANOUSE, SCOTT, YOUNG ------------------------- Mary E., wife of Edward KEARNEY, was the daughter of Frederick KANOUSE and Catherine YOUNG. Mary was born 11 August 1834 (age at death) and died 1 January 1866 age 31y 4m 21d. Mary KANOUSE and Edward KEARNEY were married at Caldwell, Essex Co, NJ 29 Sep 1856 (extracted marriage records). They had a daughter, Bertha S. KEARNEY, who was born c. 1858 and is named as his granddaughter in the will of Frederick KANOUSE dated 12 March 1879, proved 13 June 1879 in Passaic County. Mary (KANOUSE) KEARNEY is buried in the northwest corner of the Scott family burial ground, Boonton (Morris Co). Her mother, Catherine (YOUNG) KANOUSE (1802-1869), is also buried there. Catherine was the daughter of Peter YOUNG and Mary (-----), perhaps SCOTT, or perhaps STRUBLE. In 1850, Frederick and Catherine KANOUSE's niece, Margaret Adaline KANOUSE, born in August 1834 and orphaned in 1845, daughter of Joseph KANOUSE and Eleanor THOMAS, was living in Hanover (Morris Co.) in the household of Susanna SCOTT, age 50, along with Jane MUNN, age 44, Elizabeth C. MUNN, age 42, and Elizabeth MUNN, age 77. These facts offer clues that may eventually help establish Mary KEARNEY's connection to the SCOTT family. I would like further information about Edward KEARNEY and his daughter Bertha S. KEARNEY, whose descendants I would like to include in a compilation on the KANOUSE family.
