There was someone that mentioned Budd Valley that was changed to German Valley and then to Long Valley. Upon my questioning the sign along the road that reads German Valley now Long Valley about what happened to Budd Valley? An old map of the area has Budd Valley. My answer was that Budd Valley was the lower portion just west of Chester along Rt 24. Since the property was only owned by Budd and since he didn't live there it was decided to call it German Valley since they settled it. Not important but I thought it interesting. Where the town of Long Valley is situated was called Dutch Valley. The map has Budd Valley. Jean
Hi All, I would like to thank everyone who responded to my plea and search for my ancestor, Benjamin Bunnell/Bonnell/Bonnel/Bunnel, etc. b. c. 1744 in Morris Co., NJ. We still have come up dry, but there must be a small source tucked away in a record that will reveal his marriage to Sarah Jones c. 1779 in NJ/NY/PA, or his parents which could by Thomas Bonnel of Morris Co., NJ d. 1790 (I have will) or Gershom Bunnell of Connecticut or ? I have his indictment in 1779 in Succasunna(sip) near Morristown, NJ for arrest for having British made counterfeit money on him. He shows up in August 1781 signing up with Benedict Arnold in the American Legion in NY, and attacks New London/Ft. Griswold, CT on 6 Sept. 1781. Later he, his wife and 2 children under ten years appears on refugee list leaving NYC in July 1783 for Nova Scotia. He is again listed in a discharge muster at Country Harbour in Nova Scotia 1784 from a South Carolina unit under Matthew Haines. He settles at Long Reach, Kings Co., New Brunswick 1786 and dies 17 Feb. 1828 at Greenwich/Westfield, New Brunswick, buried 19 Feb. 1828. The towns he lived in at New Brunswick (Greenwich & Westfield) might reveal where he lived in NJ? His wife Sarah/Sally John could have come from the Bergen Co., NJ Thomas/Edward Jones family. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for having such a wonderful and helpful site. Regards.......Paul Bunnell UE
